One of the three Island Capitals in Brazil is rich in history and culture. Vitória, the capital of Espírito Santo, is a place filled with natural and man-made charms that captivate all who visit the region.

On the island of Vitória, you will find stunning beaches and an abundance of historical and cultural attractions, many of which are situated in the heart of the city. Notable ones include the Cathedral, the Church of São Gonçalo, and the Carlos Gomes Theater, located in the city center. The Palácio Anchieta, the Government seat, stands prominently at the entrance of the Cidade Alta in the city center.

Vitória is also known for its remarkable structures, such as the Third Bridge, which connects Vila Velha to the northern part of the island. Furthermore, the city offers a vibrant nightlife, with bars, restaurants, and nightclubs that liven up the evening, including those on Rua Sete (Downtown), the Bermuda Triangle (Praia do Canto), and Rua da Lama (Jardim da Penha).

The bathing areas of Ilha das Caieiras and Curva da Jurema offer the opportunity to enjoy the renowned capixaba moqueca, a typical dish that combines fish and a variety of ingredients. This delicacy is traditionally prepared in authentic handmade clay pots, whose production can be appreciated at the revitalized Galpão das Paneleiras de Goiabeiras, since its restoration in 2011. Additionally, you can purchase these pots directly on-site.

Camburi, with a 6 km stretch, is the only beach in the capital located on the mainland. Completely urbanized, this beach is known for its sea, considered one of the best places for sailing in Brazil, and it hosts various cultural activities promoted by the city government.

The Square of Lovers and Desires, located on Praia do Canto, features a popular boardwalk for walks and is next to the Yacht Club, from where boats depart for the International Sport Fishing Championship. On the islands of Frade and Boi, you’ll find strips of sandy beaches with crystal-clear waters, forming true havens of tranquility.

The congo bands, a local musical genre, are formed by men and women who follow the standard of São Benedito, playing a significant role in the region’s culture. The traditional instrument known as “casaca,” with indigenous origins, is also highly valued and often serves as the theme for souvenirs sold to visitors.

Vitória welcomes its visitors with warm hospitality and is a charming and peaceful city. With its extensive coastline and mild climate, the island can be explored in a few days, allowing you to easily access any beach on foot or within a few minutes.
